TOURS
At Frønningen you may enjoy various activities relating to local history, nature and the cultural landscape. We can organise a range of events from an indoor visit of the main house and its splendid surroundings, to hunting and fishing activities as well as guided tours in the magnificent West Coast nature. We also offer guided vineyard tours.
Events may include an unpretentious visit to the main house – with or without a meal. Outdoors you may visit Knut Rumohr’s collection of old houses which have been moved here from various parts of the Sogn county, most of them from Frønningen. His private home with his studio, where he created most of his art work, is also situated here. You may stroll around in the garden surrounding the main house and admire the well-built stone walls as well as grand old trees and plants. You may visit parts of the residence, like the impressive living area whose authentic interior dates from 1900, as well as one of the old bedrooms. Some of Knut Rumohr’s paintings are displayed in two of the living rooms. On special request you may see more of his art work.
You can also take a guided tour to Nyborg beneath the farm Stølen, the upland pasture of Frønningen farm. On foot you may follow the steep old hairpin bend route – Sagabakkene – from the main house by the Sagelva river to Stølen.
One of Knut Rumohr’s favourite places, the farmhouse Nyborg which dates back to 1850, is still kept the way it was when it was built.
The living area in the main house is rented out for private, corporate meetings and social events. The dining room can seat 30 people. Meals can be served on request. In two different places in the mountain forest there are shelters with a capacity of 15-20 persons, where you could grill outdoors or order catering.
We also offer guided walks on old roads and paths in the forest, in the mountains or in the cultural landscape. We offer tailor-made events, and you may combine different activities at your own discretion.
